Why HADS exists

Friendly for dogs. Real for students.

HADS connects St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju students with abandoned dogs and cats at local shelters so that every visit feels intentional, calm, and meaningful.

Shelter visits

Weekend trips that feel simple

Students sign up, ride the school bus to partner shelters, and spend the day cleaning, walking, and socializing animals in a safe, organized way.

For the animals

Dogs get more than food and water

Regular visits mean better enrichment, cleaner spaces, and more chances for shy animals to slowly trust people again.

For students

A gentle way to learn responsibility

New volunteers get guidance from experienced members and staff so that caring for dogs feels rewarding instead of overwhelming.
